Over the past decades, mummies held in the British Museum collection have been the focus of new research using the latest scientific methods.

In the past, the only way to analyse these bodies would have been to unwrap them, but the emergence of sophisticated non-invasive CT imaging techniques in the 1980s virtually eliminated the need to disturb their coverings. The clarity of the images generated makes it possible to analyse their remains in unprecedented detail. In this lecture, uncover the fascinating finds of these scans, including indications of cardiovascular disease, dental abscesses and some of the earliest surviving tattoos in the world.

This lecture includes a complimentary drink.
