Live screening of an exclusive lecture for Members.

Many objects in the British Museum represent the ‘official’ view of history. But you can also find a range of alternative views, and uncover a rich history of protest and poking fun at authority. A new exhibition opening in September has been guest curated by the journalist, satirist, writer and broadcaster Ian Hislop, Editor of Private Eye and team captain on the BBC’s Have I Got News For You.

In this special event, Philip Attwood, Keeper of Coins and Medals at the British Museum, will be in conversation with Ian Hislop. They will talk about the exhibition and what it reveals about what the other people had to say – the downtrodden, the forgotten, the protestors. They have left their marks on objects, just as the official view has, but you just need to know where to look...

Includes a complimentary drink.

Please note that this is a live relay screening of the lecture that will be taking place in the BP Lecture Theatre.
