Inspired by the work and techniques of Auguste Rodin, this unique short course offers the chance to learn sculpture techniques under the expert guidance of sculptor and tutor Shelley Wilson. With access to the exhibition Rodin and the art of ancient Greece, participants will create their own sculptures in clay based on sketches and visual notes taken inside the exhibition itself.

The course is ideal for those with some drawing and sculpting experience who have a particular interest in the genre of figurative sculpture. All materials are provided.

Presented in collaboration with the City Lit.

Shelley Wilson takes inspiration from the physicality and psychology of the human form. She is concerned with the complexities of the mind and body and how they interact. Her works are primarily concerned with identity, an individual’s motivations and society’s perceptions of that individual. Her work combines the disciplines of ceramics, sculpture and photography. She has exhibited internationally and has taught both ceramics and sculpture for many years.
