British sculptors’ drawings:
Moore to Gormley

25 September 2008 – 25 January 2009

Exhibition closed

Room 90

The exhibition features a selection of 107 drawings from the Museum’s own collection, all by British sculptors of the twentieth century.

This exhibition of drawings by modern British sculptors coincides with Statuephilia, the Museum’s display of works by five contemporary sculptors: Antony Gormley, Damien Hirst, Ron Mueck, Tim Noble and Sue Webster, and Marc Quinn.

Beginning with Jacob Epstein before World War I, it includes works by Henry Moore, Reg Butler, Anthony Caro, Marc Quinn and Antony Gormley, and ends with very recent works completed in the twenty-first century. It also includes acquisitions made specially for this exhibition, including a group of works by Barbara Hepworth, generously given by the Barbara Hepworth Trust.
