A further type of figural pottery from Hagr Edfu

The Ministry of Antiquities magazine at Elkab preserves a corpus of finds from
Hagr Edfu, excavated by Mohammed Ibrahim in 1980–81 and as yet unpublished. Among this material are two curious pots in human shape. They have lost their heads and most of their arms and it seems they were moreover ithyphallic. This is not the first group of figural pottery from Hagr Edfu. Another, the so-called Hathor pots, invites the question whether the new group was similarly linked to the local cult of Hathor. Various possible interpretations are offered here.
