This plate is part of a group of five representing one hundred officers from the French Revolutionary wars and Napoleonic wars. The sitters are arranged alphabetically and are all depicted bust-length. All the plates were engraved by Bovinet, with Vathier working as intermediary draughtsman rather than designer (Desaix's portrait for instance is after Guérin).

- 1925,1214.4 to 140 consists of portraits of Napoleonic generals and other such persons. The prints all come from the collection of the donor's father, and the gift consists of lots bought in at the sale of that collection at Sotheby's 1/2 December 1925.
